Don't waste your time in a luxurious way

On a day when I came home grumbling about the stress caused by someone at work, my father quietly called me over and said, "Son, if you keep enduring it and still feel miserable for no clear reason, quit. Find something that makes you happy, even if it pays less. I’ll always be behind you, so take courage." He reminded me that life’s time is finite. "Spending your days with people you dislike, wasting the most precious thing you have—your time—is the ultimate luxury. No matter how much money you have or how successful you are, time is the one thing everyone is born with equally, but no one can buy more of it. So don’t fill your life, your time, with such extravagance—live happily instead."

His words became a giant umbrella for me. They gave me comfort, knowing there’s someone steadfastly supporting me through any challenge, and taught me that squandering time is the costliest waste of all. Thanks to him, I found the bravery to pursue a path toward happiness, and I live each day missing that father who gave me such wisdom.
